From Smart Cities to Smart Care: How Delta’s AIDEN Robot is Shaping Eldercare in Singapore

As Singapore advances toward becoming a fully integrated Smart Nation, one of the most pressing challenges is ensuring its aging population is supported with innovative, sustainable solutions. At ROBO SG 2025, Delta Electronics’ AIDEN robot took center stage, demonstrating how robotics can play a crucial role in eldercare and the future of smart city living.

Addressing Singapore’s Aging Population with Robotics

By 2030, one in four Singaporeans will be aged 65 and above, increasing the demand for caregiving services and infrastructure. AIDEN, designed for elderly care and support, has been piloting trials for autonomous food and meal deliveries to senior communities, aiming to ease caregivers’ workload while ensuring seniors receive essential supplies efficiently and safely.

Beyond deliveries, AIDEN offers features tailored to the needs of eldercare. It facilitates remote check-ins for wellness monitoring, allowing social care providers to deploy AIDEN to visit elderly residents, providing wellness checks and enabling communication with caregivers via its telepresence function.

Additionally, AIDEN is equipped with a night patrolling feature with posture detection for nursing homes, helping caregivers monitor residents' well-being by detecting if they are resting properly. If a resident is not in the expected position, AIDEN triggers an alert for nurses to check on them, ensuring timely intervention.

AIDEN at ROBO SG: A Glimpse into the Future

At ROBO SG, Singapore’s biggest robotics showcase which took place in the Punggol Digital District, AIDEN showcased its ability to navigate complex environments, avoid obstacles, and interact seamlessly with its surroundings. Unlike traditional delivery bots, AIDEN is designed for high-density urban environments, integrating AI-driven logistics with human-centric care.

Bridging the Gap Between Smart Cities and Smart Care

As Singapore moves forward in its smart city initiatives, assistive robotics like AIDEN can enhance urban infrastructure. By integrating robotics into eldercare, AIDEN highlights how technology can seamlessly blend with daily life, ensuring that elderly residents have consistent access to meals, essential supplies, and care. These innovations show that smart cities are not just about technology—they are about creating more connected and supportive communities.

What’s Next for AIDEN?

Delta Electronics is refining AIDEN’s capabilities through real-world testing and expanding its partnerships with healthcare institutions and community eldercare programs. These collaborations aim to integrate AIDEN into daily operations, enhancing support for caregivers and residents alike.

As Singapore continues its Smart Nation journey, AIDEN exemplifies how technology can be adapted to foster a more connected, efficient, and supportive environment, contributing to a seamless integration of robotics in everyday life and advancing the city toward becoming a truly smart, people-centric society.
